Monday. It was rough. Couldn’t sleep for some reason on Sunday night and paid for it on Monday morning. Didn’t get the coffee from the Cafe, as ahhem...it wasn’t up to par. Lol! Mostly classes today. Got to lift for the last week of the weightlifting brick challenge and also swam yet again for the blue brick challenge. I have about 11 more miles to swim. Not too bad, yet a little far away. Hopefully, we can finish before the Labor Day holiday. In the evening, met with my media class group for our press conference presentation. Had some time in the late evening, so repainted my bricks, as it had some spots that I missed on the first coat of painting.

THE WEEKEND, Sunday
Sunday. Fun-day! Started off with cycling 22.1 miles before breakfast to make a run to complete my cycling challenge brick. Fell short about 16 miles. After that, went to breakfast and decided to swim a mile and a half. Got that done, then summoned the energy to terminate my cycling brick challenge once and for all. Went 20 miles and boom! Pau! Yes!! One brick down! Did some laundry in the afternoon and we had a brick painting session in the evening. Great times with great friends. After my bricks that I painted dried, I brought them back to my room so that it wouldn’t walk off by themselves (not saying us LE types are thieves or anything lol!). Did some homework after that. What an awesome and productive weekend!
THE WEEKEND, Saturday
Saturday. Caught a ride to DC and got dropped off at Arlington National Cemetery. My goal of the day was to visit the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and catch the changing of the guards. I was able to visit the Kennedy graves and made it just in the nick of time for the changing of the guards. It was such a special event for me, as i was able to accomplish one of my goals that I wanted to attain in my lifetime. Glad I went solo, as I was able to travel on foot to the monuments after. I walked to the Lincoln Memorial, from Arlington. I then stopped by the Reflection Pool and later stopped by the Vietnam Memorial. I visited these back in 2011, but it was great to see them again. Especially since the pool was under construction back then. I finally made it to the White House and took some photos outside. Got picked up and made it back to base just in time for lunch. Did some swimming after that. The electricity went out, while swimming and man, it was pitch black! Very dangerous when swimming. We later went to a local Japanese restaurant for dinner and really enjoyed it. Great company and friends! What an awesome day!!
